HELLO & HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

This is our first entry, so please be patient with us as we are just learning how to "blog"! We are hopefully celebrating Mother's Day for the last time without any children (however, we do have a dog & 2 cats who we love dearly, & they really are our "babies", & we are their "Mommy & Daddy"!). As you can see at the "counter" in the margin, we've been in the process of adoption for over 2 years...it has been a long ride with many ups & downs, but right now, we are on the "upswing"--finally preparing for our trip to Ukraine in 2 weeks!

We will do our best to communicate regularly during our journey, & if we figure out how to post pictures, we will share with you some of the sights we see in Ukraine. By the way, as a little tid-bit, did you know that Ukrainians are insulted when Ukraine is called "The Ukraine"? That is because they are very proud of their independence from the Soviet Union & are no longer a "region" of Russia previously referred to as "The Ukraine", but they are their own country, which is properly referred to as "Ukraine". OK, enough history, we will write again soon! Laura & Ed

HIP HIP HORRAY,
YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY!

Hey Laura and Ed, Your blog looks GREAT! We are so "egg-cited" for you both. Having been there and done that twice we know just what you have been going through and about to go through. When I got on that first airplane to find our FOREVER FAMILY, I mean our "YO KIDS", LOL! I sat back and said to Bruce, "This is it, there's no stopping this plane now". We sat back and put our faith in God's hands. I said my Rosary everynight and everyday especially when we were in the back seat in the hands of the driver. LOL!!!

Don't worry to much about not knowing the language, you'll do just fine. Just use a lot of sign launage, I think it helped me when we were there. God only knows what was coming out of my mouth?????

You will be in our prayers everyday and night.
I will be on my computer all day long just waiting for your updates.

We love you both,
Kerry, Bruce and The YO-KIDS

Hey Laura and Ed,
You have been preparing for this trip for a long time, and now it's finally your turn! Send our regards to Natasha, please. I wish you best of luck and I hope everything goes very quickly for you.
Please update your blog as often as you can; you know how the people back home are so anxious to hear how things are going.
Hang in there, it's a crazy journey but so worth it!

Hi Laura and Ed!

It's such fun to read your travelogue. From our limited travels abroad we're picturing you in your apartment and on yourshopping trips and eating "Ukranian" pizza! It sounds like you are veteran travelers already. Congratulations!

We look forward to your next installment and as always you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Laura & Ed,

It certainly sounds like you're having a busy time getting yourselves organized. But it seems to be going pretty smooth (except for the one trip on the steps). You both are in my thoughts and prayers - especially today because your new family is beginning. Best of Luck.

Love, Karen
